Re: Wind speed and direction interpolation.

Hi, the symmetrical zone with low winds in the center of the low looks a little artificial. Is this due to wind interpolation at points with different directions? What method are you using? f47875dc-b074-41dd-b47f-8da1651f0117-image.png

@Mary_G ,it should be considered as factual at macrolevel as a model forecast, may vary at microscale, try overlay all models if you are into datatech and youll may find your calm lovespot of dulldrom weather if your sailing.in my geographical area at karmøy, norway, its calm when ecmwf, icon and ukv model says so,but there are always local anomalies, fallwind in fjords due to mountains, and when the atmosphere are unstable in upper layers/ atmospheric waves and soforth etc etc.

beware, forecast models may be lifethreatening in 0,01% due to natural serendipitousity so listen to the locals also is my life experience.

Even in a strong (tropical) cyclone, the winds in the center (eye) are light (near calm).

@Gkikas-LGPZ , yes...believe it or not...ive never encountered such a feature of calm wind, but some of the polar lows straying my coastal areas has that too, extremely exciting, with large sea waves, and no wind...

so i would consider those deadzones of calm as actual and not just an impostrous graphic from the modelmakers
