Feature Request - Selectable Radar Station Views
-
Dear Windy Team,
Currently, the radar view combines outputs from multiple stations, which provides a comprehensive overview. However, this combined image often includes a lot of noise, and areas near precipitation frequently appear to have reflections, suggesting rainfall where there is none.
Having the option to select individual radar stations for viewing could resolve these issues by providing clearer and more accurate data. This feature would allow users to access specific data and analyze local weather conditions more precisely. Is this currently possible, or have I perhaps missed how to enable such a feature?
Thank you for considering this suggestion. I look forward to seeing this feature integrated into your excellent service.

@cnrakt , hi , usually those data may be considered as an issue to state security, military usw, so my question to topic issuer, have you found a rosetta stone radar web site for all radars in the world, where you may flicker around at individual radars at wave lengths as you wish??
if so, can you hand me that link?

@Ørjan-P-Stien Thank you for your response. I initially assumed that individual radar station data were collected separately and then combined by Windy, which led me to inquire whether it would be possible to access these individual data directly through your platform. For context, in Turkey, Meteorological Service provides separate access to all radar data. I presumed that the integration of these data sets into a combined view was done by Windy, which was why I suggested the feature. However, if the data is inherently received in a combined format, I understand that implementing such a feature might not be feasible.
Best,

@cnrakt ,hi,thank you for that clarification. here in norway were blessed with radarcoverage from top to bottom that cannot be analyzed nor cluttered with, though i wish i could due to false echoes and data clutter and frequent tech time outs that really annoys me , norway must be the lanterne rouge on wx radars .doppler data for severe weather they sample but doesnt share with us laymen at all... nws and noaa of USA are superb on this issue.
give us a hint if you bump into something more on the subject of analysable global weather radar coverage.

@Ørjan-P-Stien I just posted a thread including this exact topic into suggestions - The only good way to visualise this information right now is via RadarOmega which is an expensive, professional grade tool (on desktop). Only basic features are provided free, and desktop/web support is not one of them.
The data is available, and is not considered an issue for state security because I don't think the radars are calibrated, or otherwise capable of picking up the presence of large objects such as planes.
Proper support for single-site radar stations would also make velocity data possible. Sometimes radars feature glitches and other graphical phenomenon - to disable the visualisation of those via single-site selection would be a great improvement.
