Wind direction/speed

I would like to understand how this layer works. I'm in Dallas and the direction that is showed in Windy is completely opposite to the direction that the clouds are following and, beyond that, complete opposite to the direction for the planes are taking off from the airports in the area. If the planes were following what Windy is showing, all of them will be taking a huge tailwind, on the other hand, again, is completely opposite to what the METAR are showing in the area.

@cquijano ;HI,is that for all the models shown by windy? are you at the AP now and see this?

I was checking last night (crazy time in Dallas) the wind layer and comparing with the real situation and comparing it against other paid apps I have for radar (velocity). The wind was going NW and the rest was moving SE (reflectivity). I'm not a meteorologist but.. just seems weird to me..

Clouds observation and weather radar imagery do not show always the wind at ground level. They shows the airmass movement aloft.
In Windy you can compare Observation by weather stations and the Forecast at same location by the different weather models.
I dont know which airport you are referring to. I took this air field as example and see that the predicted wind directions were quite consistent yesterday. You can make the same comparison with other airports. Select Reported wind and choose a weather station on an airport. The Observation vs forecast feature allows you to make a comparison of wind directions at 10 meters high.

Thanks for taking the time and for your explanation.
I was referring to all the airports in the DFW area. DFW, ADS, DAL.. and others.
I use windy very often and what I saw yesterday called my attention.
Checking Windy, winds, at FL100 shows wind flowing from the NW and that could explain the storm cells movement. at 5k ft is coming from the SE
I'll continue checking and if I have some doubts I'll contact you again.
Thanks a lot for your help!
