      This (see image) should show l/m² (litres per square metre which is equal to mm used elsewhere on Windy) I believe.

        l/km2 means lightning per sq km
        Nothing to do with rain amount.

          @idefix37 Gotcha, but then the use of l (litre) as one of the SI symbols for volume is confusing. I don't think there's a SI symbol for lightning but ⚡︎ should make it much clearer what that number is meant to represent as there's no alt text explaining it on neither the pin drop flag nor the density scale.

            I agree, it’s not clear for someone who don’t know these units are concerning lightning.
            It is mentioned in the description of overlays in the FAQ (See Thunderstorms)

            Using the lightning symbol you show could be a good idea.
