i see lots of posts about adding surface analysis to windy but i dont see any response from the windy team,. fronts, occlusions , pressure centre high low etc would be super helpful and a great addition to windy. i dont see that layer, is it available or comtemplated

If you explore the multiple discussion threads on the issue of surface and front analysis, you will see why Windy does not offer this type of analysis.

Ok thanks for the heads up but i read through allot of the posts . Since you are a moderator what tag does an actual windy employee or staff person use to identify their posts. im never sure if im communicating with a staff , owner, or employee or someone who only had second hand info through the conversation here. Ill go back a reread for the clue as to why they wont post surface analysis . as i said as a pilot it is helpful. there are lots of other products online that have that info including faa ,noaa and awws site but i was curious. thank you in advance. Peter

I am a moderator on this forum, but I am not part of the Windy team. I am like you and like the other moderators only Windy users. The persons who are part of Windy are generally identified as Administrator here.
Despite that, I know Windy's position on the issue of Surface Analysis. Fronts are drawn by meteorologists and weather models are not capable of drawing these front lines. Windy does not employ meteorologists.
Windy could try to get (if the data is available) the plotting from the NOAA, the MetOffice, Meteo France, the DWD… etc. But I can’t imagine a composite image of these surface analysis. It is quite easy to check the surface analysis issued by these different weather centers to understand that this would be a real headache, and probably really impossible. Especially since Windy aims for global coverage.
You may say that there are apps displaying front lines, based on mysterious algorithms but on what basis are these lines plotted? One day may be, the AI will replace meteorologists.

@pkofman To add to this discussion, here is an article that describes a bit more of what @idefix37 mentioned with reference to the "classic" surface maps we used to see in many places.
