Prediction

Why is the prediction for a place in windy when you use, for example, AROME different from other apps? Shouldn't it be the same as in other apps?
-
@Oscar-MC
Yes, it should the same unless the other apps use a different version of AROME. Currently Windy uses the 2.5km version. Before it was the 1.3km version.
Also check that the model update is same for everyone.
Then if you compare meteograms, some like Windy interpolate data at grid points while other uses the data of the nearest point.
It would be useful to know which are these other apps. -
@idefix37 Thank you very much for the response, I had not noticed if they used aroma 1.3 and that's right, they use 1.3 and, by the way, they nail the prediction better than 2.5...
-
@idefix37 After a few days comparing, on the mobile windy does show aroma 1.3 but there is also a difference with the other app that also shows aroma 1.3, the other app is more accurate when it comes to predicting rain, for example, in windy it tells you that It's going to rain at 3 p.m., and in the other app it tells you that it's going to rain at 2 p.m. and until 4 p.m., right. We will see today who is right, because Windy says that it is not going to rain (arome) and in the other app also with aroma the forecast is that it will rain from 2 to 4, from 4 to 6 clouds/clears and after 6 rain. ...

@Oscar-MC
Again…
Also check that the model update is same for everyone.
Then if you compare meteograms, some like Windy interpolate data at grid points while other uses the data of the nearest point. -
@idefix37 The meteogram in windy is with aroma 2.5, the update time is always more recent in the other application
-
@Oscar-MC
I mean with the 1.3 version as you were comparing this version in other apps.
If you want to make a valuable comparison you must do it with the same update (reference time or run time). -
@idefix37 Windy does not give me the option to see the meteogram with 1.3
-
“ After a few days comparing, on the mobile windy does show aroma 1.3 ”
This is what you said !
So use the mobile app if you want to make comparison using this version. -
@idefix37 I do that, and the predictions are different, both Windy and the other app use Arome 1.3, and to date the other app is being more accurate in its predictions, and the other app updates the Arome information more times than in Windy, for example. I'm asking that here, because it seems interesting to me...
-
@Oscar-MC
So the update time is not similar in your comparisons. -
@idefix37 There is little difference, 2 hours, it is not that much for a 12-hour prediction, the issue is that the prediction in Windy is not as accurate as in the other app, there are even times in which Windy is wrong and in the other app no, it's completely right
-
@idefix37 Well, after the day, in the end Windy's prediction with Arome was wrong, and the other app nailed it, I still don't understand why, they both use Arome 1.3
-
@Oscar-MC
The prediction was wrong... the prediction of what parameter and where?
And please show screenshots if you want your posts to demonstrate your findings. -
@idefix37 The prediction was for Playa del Silencio, Asturias. Arome in windy did not give rain, the other app with aroma as I told you before gave rain from 2 to 4, clouds and clearings from 4 to 6 and after 6 rains, and that is what happened, I only have screenshots of the other app because I'm not a premium user and it only lets me see those predictions for a few moments, since Windy was premium until yesterday, it didn't occur to me to take a screenshot... I don't have to invent anything, you see that I'm not mentioned or that app is the other
