How 8 to 10 mph Winds become 30 mph Cross-Winds

Your animations have been intriguing for a while now. Here on the Windward side of Oahu, we have an interesting wind issue during Kona winds, i.e. winds from the South East to the South West. When the wind is over 8 to 10 mph in those directions, we get 30 mph cross-winds at the bottom of the Pali (cliffs in Hawai'ian). Winds at 10-15 miles per hour can generate 50 mph cross-winds. The locals and even the US Weather Service do not understand how the winds act to fill the void created when the Kona winds pass over the steep Pali. It really is simple physics that can be easily modeled with your software. Very interesting.
