Windy not working

Same problem here and I tried all kinds of stuff to fix it without success. Nothing showed up on help topics. Finally tried disabling VPN and that cured it. Kinda ticks me off that I can no longer use this app without turning off my VPN.

@kyle-crow @MimsieXoX @robakkerman Do you have the same issue, when you try to visit the app via browser on the same device?
Also from which region you are trying to access the app?

@Suty same issue using Chrome on my phone. Im up in Edmonton Alberta. My VPN is showing on but the device will not let me turn off

@robakkerman ok so last week i installed McAfee virus software on my phone and it locked VPN on. I’ve deleted app and VPN is now off and Windy works …….yeah

@robakkerman Okay, thank you for this info. We are aware of the issue with accessing Windy with McAfee software. Did you use this tool before? Or has this issue started with installation of this tool?

iPhone 13 having same problem, no data showing on most layers. Have deleted and reinstalled app twice, vpn is not on, WiFi or cellular data also not showing up.

@jaclhy82 Hi, so you don't use McAfee app in any way? There are still some features that block our app, for example Safe browsing feature.

@Suty yes I do have mcafee safe browser on. I’ve been using windy for a year but never had issues when using mcafee safe browsing up until recently. Does that mean I have to turn everything off in mcafee before I open the app?

@jaclhy82 We tested the feature and it looks like McAfee updated this feature in a certain way and it starts to block our app. I tested the feature with older versions of our app and the issue is there as well.

@Suty I had the same problem. I’ve used Windy for years and never had this problem. currently on iPhone 15 Pro iOS 17.6. Cell phone carrier is Verizon. Verizon uses McAfee for its VPN and “safe browsing”. I shut the VPN off but still couldn’t get it to work. After reading these post, I realize have that safe browsing thing was turned on too. I shut it down. I’ve also had Verizon for years, but never had this issue before. Windy is working perfectly now. I rely on it heavily, especially during hurricane season. Thank you!!!

@okaloosa Unfortunately, it seems that McAfee made some changes in this Safe browsing feature, since we tested it with our older versions of Windy and the issue is there as well. So, we cannot do much with that for now.

@Suty A lot of people who use Verizon may not realize that Verizon's Digital Secure service is powered by McAfee which includes Verizon’s VPN and Secure browsing. So if you have this problem on your cell phone or tablet in the app and Verizon is you cell phone carrier, you might want to check there first. Since I pretty much exclusively use only the app I didn’t think safe browsing would affect that, but it does affect the app.
