We’re excited to unveil a long-awaited feature that will transform how you experience weather updates: Radar+. This layer combines satellite imagery and weather radar into a single view, allowing users to understand the weather situation better.

      What to expect from Radar+

      • More details in one place to provide the whole context of the nowcast.
      • Radar+ also works with the Hurricane Tracker tool. It provides emergency and rescue teams with incredibly detailed information about the situation when the hurricane/typhoon is within radar reach.
      • Besides live weather monitoring, the Radar+ layer has a 365-day history archive with Windy Premium. This way, you can look at any hurricane/typhoon/storm in the last 365 days.

      Choose between three satellite layers

      • BLUE, taking into account day and night with beautiful animations of sunrises
      • VISIBLE, rather neutral and clear view of the layer
      • INFRA+, showing the satellite in the infrared spectrum

That's all! Try Radar+ and tell us what you think in the comments. We'll pick five commenters and send you an original Windy tin mug and legendary isoline socks. It pays to read the articles to the end! :)

@Polina-Nozdrina I live in the carribean on a sailboat and it looks like it is a great additional tool for the hurricane season. Thanks for that. Cheers Wolfgang

@Polina-Nozdrina This an excellent addition to Windy, thank you guys So Much for your hard work here!

The Radar+ layer is incredibly useful as it combines the weather radar and satellite layers ~something I was constantly switching in between to get a better understanding of approaching storms in my area ... or also watching in other parts of the world! :) From a Technical point of view it appears to be working really well and have been using it more and more often ~ and the tools to switch between layers (and change the spectrum) all being available under the timeline toolbar is a great touch. REally enjoying this feature, Great work!

The historical archive feature I've yet to try and am excited to as this is something I've personally always hoped to have available! ~ I can't wait to try this out! :D

Fantastic! Thank you again ~ em :D

Very good combination, I used to switch back and forth. Thanks, keep it up!

@Polina-Nozdrina this is a great addition to the app! Instead of constantly going back and forth between radar and satellite they are both right there. Enjoying the three visual choices as well, plus I can look at one or the other very easily. This is just to much fun and incredibly useful. Well done from a weather junky!

Hi Polina, thx to the windy-team for this nice option. Living in southern Germany near a sea with my sail-boat so this is very helpful for decisions to sail or to bike - or maybe to sleep a little bit longer 😂👍🏼

I used to flick between the two views whenever a storm was passing over to get some idea of when the rain would come, how strong it would be, and when it might stop. Plus for tracking thunderstorms. Combining these two views makes great sense and it'll be the one I use whenever the storms arrive.

This is a wonderful combination in this layer. I find it really useful to see and follow live storms in digital. Thank you so much!

This will be great, but Radar+ layer does not show in my layers. What do i need to do?

fabulous tool if the images are as current as the originals:) very helpful and an intuitive step forward. I would still like to see rocking animations.. the back and forth really add a level of interpretation
                                      go team windy:))

From sailing and windsurfing point of view it’s very useful feature, thank you Windy and keep going! Also for officers on vessels equipped with wind assisted propulsion system Windy is extremely important for routes optimizations. We use it on daily basis.

                                          Hi!
I use windy app for sailing and it’s the best up for sure to predict what’s coming, but I also need the windy tin mug to feel the weather better!
