Windy launches Radar+ layer combining Satellite and Radar view
-
Windy is the best weather app. The new feature seems to be very useful, altho I have to get used to it so I can get best of it. Thanks a lot windy team!
-
Thank you! I've been waiting for this layer for 5 years as it is the best way to clealry communicate the current weather situation!!
-
Looks nice! I wish we could disable radar smoothing on this layer and the regular radar layer. Sometimes the jagged edges give more data than the processed blobs.
-
Very useful layer! Kudos for continuing to improve your product.

nice info,thx for share

Hello!
I think it's a good idea.
I use it mostly when I'm preparing my bike training to know if rain is coming or not. Cloud movement, ceiling if low or other info to be as informed as possible.
In my opinion, it would be good if you can enter wind speed and direction in Radar + to get a bigger picture of the weather!
PS: my parents also use it on the farm to know when to do certain farming operations!
And of course it would be cool if we had the possibility of some premium 14/30 trials! -
Love the Blue display. Use it every time now.

Love the Blue version. Combining satellite and radar is fantastic. Windy has become my favorite weather app.

Windyβs maps and pictures look very pretty,
But of far greater importance to sailors is the accuracy of wind direction and strength. Windy is proving to be very very unreliable in Greece.
The forecasts invariably tend to be very general and do not reflect reality. Windy needs to compare actual conditions with its forecasts and amend its models accordingly. Sadly windy seems to focus its efforts on its fancy pictures rather then accuracy. Windyβs lack of inaccuracy is darn right dangerous for sailors using this app .
About time windy executives visited Greece on a boat and compared forecast verse reality.
Windy is quite good at predicting temperature for sunbathers but hopeless at warning sailors of wind conditions accurately -

Are you really thinking that Windy can modify the weather models made by major weather centers like ECMWF, NOAA, DWD⦠? This is absolutely impossible !
Windy offers several models. Which one are you using?
See this postYou should try to use the best model for the area where you are sailing. See further screenshots showing the importance of the model resolution in area of mountainous islands.
With customised color scale
GFS 22km
ECMWF 9 km
ICON-EU 7km
NEMS 4 km

@Greg-Bertram windy visualising forecasts by national weather services .. Not more.. Not less

@idefix37 Clear answer. Thanks!

Hey,
The new layer is really good, but unfortunately the location determination (GPS) doesn't work correctly. I always have to correct it manually. I had already posted this.
When will the layer be offered in the settings as an
option for the start page?
Would be great.

The Radar+ puts it all on one screen. As a cyclist and motorcyclist living under 2 conveyors of weather, wx radar and cloud cover activity are important.
-
@okie8403 this is the reason why as a pilot I have ditched all my previous app and only use windy for everything from pre-flight during flight and post flight activities including off time you guys are making it difficult if not impossible for other developers to keep up!!!!
-
Thanks for putting this together Windy! Just fantastic and extremely helpful when planning time out on the water or in the mountains. It was a great app but now even better!!!

Fantastic update! Windy has been our go-to for years, both for me and my family, as well as many friends who hike and sail regularly. We rely on it to stay informed about the weather, and this new addition makes it even better! We are truly grateful for all the hard work and dedication.
With heartfelt thanks,
Tom
