Windy launches Radar+ layer combining Satellite and Radar view
-
@Polina-Nozdrina
i do not have it in my layers…what should i do? …or you should do it? -
Absolutely legendary, it’s great to see the rain images juxtaposed on the weather systems, makes perfect sense and why wasn’t it thought of before (living in Ireland this aspect of weather gets a lot of usage).
Curious ticking noises whilst reading the introduction, couldn’t work out what was happening until I saw the underlying screen with storms happening on the Eastern seaboard of the USA 🙃 -
These are outstanding new features! We live on the Albemarle Sound behind the Outer Banks of NC. This will allow us to critically observe the potential impacts of severe weather, especially hurricanes, and give us more confidence in response to emergency situations. Thanks Windy!

I live in by the Atlantic coast, this will to make more accurate go or no go VFR flights.

@arwinL
Everybody has it. It's a free feature. Did you update the app recently? -
Thanks windy!

I love the new Radar+ layer and have been keeping it open in the background at work ever since I first noticed it was available a few weeks ago! My job requires weather awareness, including cloud cover (for photography and data collection) so I LOVE seeing both the radar and satellite on the same view. I didn't know about the option to review historical radar but am about to investigate that as well. What a great option. Thanks so much for continuing to add new features to the Premium subscription!

@Mitch65 Those lightning "pops" used to drive me nuts until I figured out where the sounds were coming from! Now I love that feature.
-
Is it just clouds, or clouds and precip heading your way? Heavy precip or light? Radar+ gives you a more complete picture that allows you to be better prepared.
Thanks for the wonderfully useful addition to Windy.
-
@David-Polášek I subscribe to premium and I checked for updates and there wasn’t one… I just checked again. Now I had an update and I see it there. Thank you!!!
-
Really like the new Radar+, it gives a whole new outlook on the progression of storms and rain related to cloud cover.

@arwinL
upcoming version 43 is full of major updates. I think that will be one of the most packed updates we ever launched! :) -
Awesome update. As a bike commuter in the Pacific Northwest if the United States, figuring out incoming rain is key. Switching between these two layers has always showed that process down. Thank you for an excellent new addition!
-
I just tried Radar+. In 6 hour mode, the cells seemed to be moving in the opposite direction of the regular radar loop. Fix it!
-
Windy stopped working on my ipad ios 17.5
No weather info overlay on map and message saying wind info not available for my area, San Francisco Bay Area? No forecasting present in the lower timeline. -
Fantastic. I love this. You can go from different satellite renderings with the radar. It's providing such rich information!
And you still get to hear the lightning. Yay!
Keep up the great work xxx

windy..the best and accurate....five stars

Radar+ is a feature I’ve been wanting from weather apps for a long time. Thanks for implementing it with some customizability! The “Visible” view in particular is pretty neat. Are there plans to allow changing what specific radar view is used, as well? One feature that seems to still need work is the future-modelling animation. But overall, awesome new feature!

This is exactly what I’ve been looking for. As a person that travels for work this tool is priceless to me. And as a person that lives in Florida and is affected by hurricanes, the features of radar+ plus are awesome. And as a person that works for a company that goes into storm ravaged areas in the southeast to bring in supplies and water, Windy as a whole is the way. Radar+ is like a huge bonus now.

Really like using Windy for my outdoor activities as its been invaluable, from Drone use, Fishing, mountaineering, camping and Kayaking.
The new layered function is a game changer in predicting weather and allowing me time to alter routes, times etc to allow for a safer experience outdoors.
Keep up the tremendous work.
Awesome app.
