AROME 1.3 km will be back
-
@Cheekiss Hi, the AROME model is back online, the outage is over.
-
@nico64-0 Hi, the AROME model is back online, the outage is over.
-
Since 2 days we don't have access to the AROME model over the southwestern half of Spain, the most reliable model for navigation....
-
@Mireille-Rodi Hello, could you please describe what you mean that you do not have access to AROME? The model does not show up on the map?
-
@Korina This is how the map appears.

If you could see the screenshot -
What you show is the domain of AROME 1.3km. It does not cover the South and South West of Spain. If you are out of the map you show, there is no way for you to get forecast from this regional model. That’s not a limitation due to Windy but to AROME boundaries.
-
@idefix37 Thanks! I understand….
-
Hi,
The Arome model is missing for Scandinavia and it dose not run for Alps for cloud base?
Why? -
@ShahramT
Arome model in Windy is from data provided by Météo-France.
The version used by Windy is the HD version with 1.3km resolution. It is the 2.5km version which provides altitude data. -
@idefix37
Ok, thanks.
So you mean the Arome model that they use in Sweden and Norway, isn’t available in Windy? -
Windy doesn’t use AROME model for calculating the cloud bases in France either!
-
The 1.3 km version of AROME does not show cloud base. So this parameter is not displayed in Windy.

Hello,
looks like the arome forecast isnt available anymore in northern ireland. This is/was quite a good one for here, would be nice to have it back. Hopefully just a bug/issue.
Cheers,
Hannes

@hannesp Hi, since there was a huge interest here on community to use AROME 2.5km instead of 1.3km, we decided to change it and unfortunately this new model has smaller borders.
-
@Suty Thanks for the quick response, unfortunately not a great outcome. There is huge interest from the Irish / Northern Irish community to get this back :)
It worked really well for local effects and got us quite a few extra sessions
-
@Suty found great use for this in NI
-
In the proposed forecast models I no longer see Arome
-
@AppGiu
This is probably because the 1.3km version is now replaced by the 2.5km version. This version has a restricted domain.

In which area were you using AROME ?
-
I hope that you will reintegrate the 1.3 km resolution! :
On the one hand, because I live in Bolzano (South Tyrol/Italy) and a small grid is important in the alpine lakes, as well as on Lake Garda (and the models are already becoming less accurate at their edges anyway), on the other hand, my most important wave spots are on the northern Adriatic:
There, the 2.5km doesn't cut it anymore, plus AROME 1.3km had a 90% reliable forecast in the last couple of updates, which I wouldn't want to miss!
