Polar steregraphic projection
-
Many thanks for recent additions to Windy. Radar together with satelite is brilliant, and it is very interesting to follow AIFS in Windy (and at ECMWF)
But, and I have asked before. The standard plate carée lat/lon map projection is not very suitable for us at higher latitudes. Compare the Kola peninsula with the Iberian peninsula for instance. A common useful projection is polar stereographic, true at 60° N (or S). It is compulsory to show the circumpolar vortex
Can we hope for a polarstereographic choice sometime, the sooner the better
Thanks

If you use the browser version of Windy, you can enable the 3D mode to get this type of projection, not so far from a polar stereographic projection -
@idefix37 how do I find browser projection. I didn't know about it

@per-0
The browser version of Windy is the version that get on a computer (desktop or laptop) or even on a tablette via a browser. It is different from the mobile app.
How do you get Windy? -
@idefix37 mobile phone or pad. But no computer

@per-0
With my iPad I can get the browser version typing https://www.windy.com in the browser bar. -
@per-0 As a sailor working mainly in the arctic I agree 100% we need a polar stereographic projection. 3D is good, but not enough for my use.
