Feature request - percentage calculations accuracy
-
It should be clear for all - longer term calculations is lower probability. Can you consider to show probability of accuracy for particular date and model selected?
For example - GFS is terribly bad accuracy for long term calculations, afaik 5 day calculations is less than 50% accuracy, in most cases, it provides nonsense results, at least at summer time in central Europe.
It colud be nice to know what is calculations accuracy, it's known isn't it? Can you also show that value on map?

Dear Sir,
I am a user of this application since eight years. I require at least seven days forecasts of rainfall and cyclone data for my professional purpose. But I observed that your accuracy of forecast which predicted before seven days is 50% whereas that improves to 80% which predicted before 24hrs. Now, I am posted at Birbhum District, West Bengal, India and would like to supply more intenser rainfall data which was actually recorded during last 10 years over 20 numbers raingauge stations at this region. Some of the stations have weather stations where you can get datas like humidity, wind speed, sun shine etc also. All these I want to do, so that you can improve your forecast system to 100% accuracy atleast seven days span for this region which will be beneficial to me. I am waiting for your reply.
Yours faithfully

The accuracy of the forecasts all depends on the models used. Adding extra stations won't change this.

Hello,
Thank you for your proposal but Windy cannot change the weather prediction in the app.
Windy only visualises the data of weather models like ECMWF, GFS, ICON… These weather models are run by the major weather centers like ECMWF, NOAA, DWD…
See https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Numerical_weather_prediction
So Windy can’t change their data. -
@uktim32 to get better accuracy you have to use Ensemble Midel

@duducardo
You don’t get a better accuracy with Ensemble models. You just get the probability of the forecast accuracy. Outputs of ensemble models can be presented as a range of possibilities, to indicate the amount of uncertainty in modeling.
https://www.ecmwf.int/en/newsletter/153/meteorology/25-years-ensemble-forecasting-ecmwfEnsemble models are not available in Windy, only the Deterministic ones, but EFI data shown in Extreme forecast layer is based on Ensemble calculation as explained in this article.
