Apple Watch Ultra 2 Weather Widget Displays Incorrect Location and Temperature When Disconnected
-
Hey team,
I would like to report a bug. The Apple Watch Ultra 2 shows random data when losing connection to the phone.
iOS: 17.6.1 (latest)
watchOS: 10.6.1 (latest)
Windy: 42.5.5I absolutely understand that by losing connection to the phone, the watch cannot get live weather data, but at least it should show cached data maybe?
I live in Malta and when the connection is lost - it for some reason detects my location as Praha with totally random numbers:
Expected behaviour: show cached data, and put an (!) icon somewhere that the data is outdated?
Best,
Marin -
@Marin-Mitrev Hi, you are right about this and we keep last data from mobile device for 8 hours, then we display this preview data, you saw.
-
@Suty this doesn't seem the case for me.
I go swimming daily and this happens every day. Total time I spend disconnected is around 1 maximum 2 hours.Tho the 'preview data' is obviously wrong (and also for obvious reasons), imho - that its still weird user experience having random data(including the location) shown on the display.
BR,
Marin -
@Suty , can you please advise what should be done to have a correct location?
for me (same setup as Marin), it always shows the Praha location & always the same temperature. -
@arduous Could you please try to reinstall the Windy on your Watch device?
-
@Suty i did and the Praha view is still there after setting it up and selecting "current location" in the location settings of the windy watch app:
-
@arduous Okay is this issue also in the 5 days forecast widget?
-
@Suty yep.
i set it to the 5d forecast widget, it still showed Praha.
After restarting the watch, it did the same thing.
-
@arduous Hi, when you check that Windy complications options for that place in your watchface, do you have them duplicated (5 days forecast twice,...)?
-
Hey @Suty
i hope i get your question right:
this is what i am shown in the complications - but i dont exactly know what you mean with "for that place"?
If i can provide any further input, pls let me know :) -
@arduous Okay, thank you for the screenshot.
-
Mine does the same
-
@Suty is there an update or no resolution in sight?
-
@arduous At this moment, we are not able to replicate it, but I am aware of that issue, so hopefully it will be fixed soon.
