Hurricane Tracker's update time isn't same as About These Data
-
Both use ECWMF as data source,
About these data: Updated 1h 2m ago (00z)
Hurricane tracker: Updated 2h 11m ago -
Just curious, In Hurricane Tracker, will ECMWF data also be updated four times a day (00z, 06z, 12z, 18z) for a premium user?

@tomacat
The ECMWF update their tracker data 4 times a day
https://charts.ecmwf.int/products/cyclone?base_time=202409150000&product=tc_strike_probability&unique_id=17W_BEBINCA_2024
Click on SELECT DIMENSIONS -> Time
But I don’t know if Windy update its tracker 4 times a day too. -
Hoping windy can add reference time in Hurricane Tracker:)

Looking in detail at the update time in the tracker, it seems that all data sources are displaying the same update time. For instance for Bebinca all models (JMA, UKM, BoM-A, ECMWF) was updated 5h ago.But in fact it could be the time since the reference time in UTC, here 00Z. I agree it should be easier to display it more clearly.
Update time in Windy is not the reference time of the model, so it is confusing. -
Hi @idefix37 and @tomacat, update time in hurricane tracker refers to when actual position of the storm was updated. We do have update times for each forecast, but it is currently not being displayed. These update times are planned for being displayed in the next development iteration of hurricane tracker.
-
@Filip_K It would be more clearly:)
But I found Hurricane Tracker seems stop update, Bebinca's last update is one day ago.
BTW, there is a gramma typo in the screenshot. "1 days ago" should be "1 day ago".

@tomacat
There are no more updates for Bebinca since it is getting weak and falling apart -
@Filip_K Look like Windy doesn't update ECMWF 06Z/18Z in Hurricane Tracker?
I found that the typhoon positions in Windy Layer and Hurricane Tracker do not match.

@tomacat
It might have been an older update (can't verify since we currently do not display neither reference nor update time for hurricane forecast).Current update looks ok to me:
