Version 43: Introducing the New Features and Enhancements. Tell us what you think!

Very good news, thanks to all the group 💌
Some times the bulletin does not come out right, but maybe it is the local phenomena that we have to pay attention to, as long as we have experience with the weather. -
Hello all of you. I'm an olive and carob farmer here in Southern Catalonia. Most of the improvements are very useful to me. As its a dry region with quite high winds (el Mistral), the risk of rapidly entering wind is always nearby. The app helps all of us farmers here in more ways that you can know. Thanks. Keep up the great work.
Paul.

Excellent new updates. In the Radar+layer, the precipitation resolutions needs to be higher or HD quality. Keep up the good work guys. Really enjoy the new features and enhancements. Have been your customer for years now.

The improvements are always impressive and helpful. A suggestion A sticky notification of local temp in notification bar.

Radar + is still not working. When I click on Radar it works.
When I click on Satellite it works.
When I click on Radar+ it only shows Satellite map. Satellite

@lstew452
Could you check that Radar (RAD) is not switched OFF. -
This app has come a long, long way since its inception! Not only has the performance of it improved, but the amount of features that just keep coming is just amazing. When I really want to know what's going on with the weather, Windy is what I turn to!
-
Ever since you started this change, my app has been glitchy. Now it won't even show radar. I think it's terrible. It would be nice to have the new changes, if it actually work properly.
-
Love this app, it helps a lot with multiple forecast models comparison, now with 15 days it's even better, of course it's not 100% precise, but different model option gives a better overview, and help a lot to plan our work in field, specially on soyabean seeding season.
-
Love this app, and would love to comment on new features, but logging on this evening - on two different browsers - seeing 'no data' on all models. What gives? Never had this issue before.
-
@sasipm I don't think it is a very good or at least trivial idea to built a forecast on a mix of all models. Some are very good for short term, others for long term prediction, some are more precise and so on.
A simple mix of all of them would be a lie as it would just predict: "the weather will change somehow"
Of course it might be possible to do it right, but that is a really complex task:
- define the weight of each model on a time line
- only mix those that are regionally available
- add long historical data sets of similar situations
- post processing to remove forecast errors
- extract parameters that only exist in some models (e.g. thunderstorms)
- .... (many more I guess) ....
The german DWD is calculating what they call ModelMIX / MOSMIX and they use it e.g. for their weather warnings. The result -imho - is a lot of warnings that are not really relevant or being a lot less strong as predicted.
In my opinion the preselected ECMWF is a very good model for the average user.
I take a look at the Compare View of the models to check the reliability of the forecasts: If all models predict similar weather, than it seems to be a stable situation and you can count on that even for a few more days. On the other hand, if all models are drifting apart in the near future, it seems to be clear that we have a difficult situation and we have to be careful to rely on any prediction.

@afurley like the Radar+ (been usin ga lot since first announced) and am excited to try the route planner enhancements when next at sea. The increased range of models available is great, but is also adding extra chaos to the menu. It would be good to have the ability to customise which are normally shown, in what order, and to determine which is used by default. Thanks!
-
Thanks for keeping up the pace with great improvements in Windy!!
-
Not a fan of the basemap on the Radar+ layer. Can we have more options?
-
Here at Weather Weenie Central, we are loving the new radar layers that make storm tracking in real time data possible! This was essential to saving lives in Helene. The models indicated rapid strengthening near landfall and that was totally evident in real time. Strength and location were extremely close to what the models indicated. I was able to start prepping clients days ahead of landfall! The absolute best money I spend on the Internet is Windy App!
-
Thanks for all the updates. Not the least the high resolution forecasts for central Europe and Canada. I would love to see something similar for Northern Europe. Forecasts at 2.5 km are freely available from the nordic met services. Please use them.
-
Can you put the wind speed arrows animation onto Radar+ with a centre button to turn on/off? You could have temperature labels (15c) (18c) (20c) on a button too. This would be a fantastic live view of just about everything on one screen.
-
Version 43 seems more confusing....not happy
-
How about browser push notifications under 'Notification preferences', that would be very useful.

You have a wonderful tool here! Today it is not working, however!
I do not have access to the usual WINDY maps and tools. Some do work (satellite) but the others are 'gray'. Is this the current solar flare issue? 10/3/24I do use an old Mac OS (v.10.13.6) which has been fine until today. I'm stuck with it because it still runs 'Bootcamp' for Windows 10/11 needed to operate an expensive 3D laser scanner (in Windows). Thank you for letting me continue with Mac OS (v.10.13.6). Please consider 'backward compatible' OS versions for basic Windy!
What I could use are 'local' Barograph charts--they are very hard to find in 2024--especially with my outdated OS. I have my own 'brain barometer' (a large arterio-venous malformation (AVM) that is very sensitive to air pressure fluctuations. Your isobar layers are a fantastic help already--'barograph charts' would point out the dips where I am vulnerable to aphasia ~twice a day. I intend to subscribe to WINDY--have faith!
WONDERFUL WORK!
