Adding MTG-I1 FCI to Windy
-
Good afternoon!
On 26 September, EUMETSAT will start to make its pre-operational data from the MTG-I1 FCI instrument available to the public free of charge (https://user.eumetsat.int/news-events/news/updates-to-uns-subscription-entries-for-meteosat-data). I'm wondering if the team will be able to integrate this data operationally into Windy as soon as it becomes available, and if so, is there a possible ETA?
Thanks in advance.

Hi @Jakub-Gorlic, we are aware of the third generation of EUMETSAT satellite and we are waiting for the data very excitedly. But as far as I know, there has been many problems and issues with MTG operation resulting in unexpected delays and no date on data availability is set yet.
If I'm reading the post correctly, it is only about renaming User Notification Service (UNS) entries for previous generation (MSG):

@Filip_K Hi. This basically means, that now we have the following types of data:
0° Service (FDSS)
9.5° E (RSS)And by 26 September, they will be renamed to:
0° Service (FDSS) / MSG
9.5° E (RSS) / MSGSo it makes place for the new data, that will be named:
0° Service (FDSS) / MTG
9.5° E (RSS) / MTGAnd this basically means that on September 26 the MTG data will become available. From my privately obtained sources that information is also basically confirmed.

Aha, ok then. We'll check the data as soon as they become available then (: -
@Filip_K Update: The data will officially get available on September 24th. (https://user.eumetsat.int/news-events/news/public-release-of-pre-operational-mtg-i1-fci-data).
