Solved Satellite outage over the North and South America (Sep 28)
-
Due to major damage to critical infrastructure from Hurricane Helen, there is an outage of satellite data (GEOS-16 East and GEOS-18 West data) over the American continent. We are not receiving any data.
NOAA Satellite Alert messages: https://ospo.noaa.gov/operations/messages.html
UPDATE from NOAA: DATA FEED ISSUES - Due to major damage to critical infrastructure in the Asheville, NC area from Hurricane Helene, our GOES data feeds to the cloud have been impacted. We are working with local authorities and service providers in hopes that we can restore these feeds ASAP. Note that major celluar and network (fiber) infrastructure have been damaged, and this may take time to address. Thank you for your continued support.
UPDATE: We are working on a backup solution from different sources. There will be some compromises, but at the moment, the number one priority is to deliver any satellite view at least.
UPDATE: The NOAA data feed has been restored for both GEOS-16 and GEOS-18.

It used to work, but now it’s not.

@mj-u Hi there, can you provide complete screenshots of the issue and info about the device, where you have this error?
-
@Suty My radar+ is also just radar. It worked the first week it rolled out, but it hasn't since.
-
@tribble-0 Can you please let us know what device do you use? Also screenshot would be appreciated.
-
@Suty I use an Android Moto phone and a Chromebook, radar+ works on neither.
-
Hi @tribble-0, is satellite enabled in the settings (available under three dots with text "More" in the lower right corner)?
This is what it looks like with satellite enabled:
And this is what it looks like when it's disabled:
-
@Filip_K Thanks, so simple but I never thought to look there for the fix. I never disabled the satellite after the radar + rolled out so not sure why it worked the first week then turned off all by itself lol.

Hello, I am having the same issue since latest update. Satellite layer not showing up in either radar+ or satellite only later. Also stopped working on my PC chrome browser.

If they don't answer, they either don't care or folded. You don't treat customers this way
-

Satellite imagery not working for 2 days since last update to the application.
It is apparent that the update caused the app to stop working properly so fix the problem already.... -

Just get 3 progressing dots and no imagery when on sat view and choosing between three source options, Visible, Blue, Infra+ makes no difference. The lightning hits are showing FWIW. Radar+ only sowing Radar view. Same result on IOS app as well. Thanks for looking into it.Tim - North Carolina -USA
