What altitude should I be using?

I wasn't even aware of this feature.
I'm not sure what altitude I should be using.
If I'm just interested in weather again sea level or similar should it be set a surface level or slightly above? -

If you want to get the weather forecast at sea level or at ground level, even in mountain, leave the altitude slider on “Surface”.
