Desktop date slider difficult to use

When using desktop mode in the bottom date table, there is a slider that can be used to show the rain or other overlay, but this is too thin that even a slight movement above will make you click on map and your location will change to that instead of selecting date, an auto-hide spacer should enabled when the slider is in focus.
