      Hello! Thanks for your excellent product and for constantly improving Windy! I've noticed that the Canadian model HRDPS isn't available when selecting the "New snow" layer; instead, it is when the layer "Snow depth" is selected. HRDPS is again available in the "Rain, thunder" layer, which also has information about snow.
      So I was wondering if the lack of HRDPS information about "New snow" is just a bug, or whether the model doesn't provide this information directly. Having good information about snow is quite important in Canada!
      If HRDPS doesn't provide the "New snow" layer directly, could it be created from the other information HRDPS has about snow (including the snow information present in the forecast for a specific location)?
      Many thanks in advance!

          @Marvelous9979 So I have more info for you, unfortunately, HRDPS doesn't provide this dataset or necessary data to calculate it on our end. I am sorry about that.

              @Suty Hello Suty. By curiousity, what is the necessary data you need on your end to calculate the new snow forecasted? When I select hrdps, in the hour-per-hour forecast I can see the amount of snow that is forecasted to fall every hour. Is that not what you need for the new snow map? It would be very helpful to have the new snow map with hrdps for people living in USA and Canada. Thanks

                Hi @jlucrob, yes, You are right, there is snow precipitation rate parameter available. When I was implementing our ingress for HRDPS months ago, I didn't notice it, because I was looking for accumulated snow precipitation parameter, which isn't available but can be computed from precipitation rate. It is already on my todo list and will be definitely added in one of the upcoming releases. Thank You for Your patience and I'm sorry for any inconvenience.

                        Hello,

                        Just following up on this as well for new snow, as it's a feature I would also use.

                        I have found a workaround by using "rain accumulation" in the meantime.

                        Does windy always use a 10:1 snow-to-liquid ratio, or does it forecast higher snow-to-liquid ratios based on temperature?

                          @beaverbanker
                          In the FAQ you can read
                          “ New snow: Total snow accumulation in the next hours or days. To estimate the depth of snow, we use the ratio: 1mm of rain = 1cm of snow.”
                          For instance the ECMWF model is giving the snowfall as water equivalent.
