Would it be possible to have precip typing to separate rain/sleet/snow etc. A few other global radar apps have this option.

Hi @uktim32, do You mean precipitation type classification from weather radar?

We are working on it where available (not many countries/institutions provide such data). If You're from UK (judging from the username), You're in luck. UK is one of the few that does provide such data.

@Filip_K yes that was it, rain sleet snow etc.

Also to answer the other reply some global radar apps do offer a global view, the weather channel radar app being one such app. I can imagine they use GFS temperatures to calculate the precip type?

Yes, most likely. Our current intent is to use precipitation classification (type) from radar data wherever possible (where available) and calculate the rest from forecast model. It will most likely take few months to implement, but I am personally looking for this feature very much.

That would be nice of you can use a high resolution model where it is available.
This is done in France by Meteociel with AROME forecast.

Thanks for the info. Maybe they would be willing to share their data with us. I'll try contacting them when I get to it.
