Where are the migrated alerts?
-
I saw today that there is a call to migrate the alerts. I have started to migrate some of them but they have disappeared from the favourites list.
Where are they? -
Hi @halig
in the menu as notifications: https://www.windy.com/-Notifications/notifications -
@nesro Thank you, I can see them now. And I see that the option to "Pin" that alert has disappeared (my list is long and finding the interesting points for the coming days only with the search or alphabetically is tedious)
-
@halig Hi, you can drag and drop items in the Notifications system.
-
@Suty I have about 100 alerts. It wouldn't be practical to drag the alerts (I use the visual ones with the red line, not email or mobile notifications) from the next day to the beginning.
On the other hand, I see that migrating a favorite to notifications makes it impossible to open it in favorites afterward. When I click, it disappears. In summary: either I'm doing something wrong or I regret starting the migration (I am a computer scientist and programmer); for now, I see this migration as VERY VERY NEGATIVE and a significant loss of functionality. Very too early adopter :(
Moreover, I'm afraid to touch anything or update the app for fear of losing all that work compiling favorites. A minimal export option would be essential. Additionally, I have several friends who want to subscribe, but they don't want to do all that work of compiling favorites and alerts by hand, so they are losing potential customers by not having an export system.

@halig Hi, from the last week, we moved alerts to notfications section, where you can check the red line as well, but as you said they will be removed from favorites. After migrating all of your alerts, you should be able to see them in this new section.
-
@Suty I'm sorry but this functionality has set windy way back. My favourites were the go too. I could see what sites were on. I could also add a favorite to the widget and see the red for when it was on. Upon clicking widget it would open on said site with the highlights.
I'm a software developer and am struggling to understand why you would destroy your application in this way. I'm at the point that I'm considering binning windy and just using sky sight as the quick check functionality has now gone.
I used windy as a quick check to see which sites were on before checking skysight. Now after migrating all my notifications, windy offers no value. Super dissapointed

@jameswhiteman Hi, you can still use our favorites in the same way as you used to. Only our alerts/notifications are moved to separate section and you can now have more notifications for one location, which was not possible before.
-
@Suty
i also see several disadvantages in the new behavior of alerts...
the favorite spot is deleted when using the migration.
meaning it is removed from my favorites.
why that?
i spent hours and hours to organize my favs.cheers

question:
what will happen if i decide to not migrate any alerts/warnings until 15.05?
-
@Mista-Fly They will be probably completely deleted, since we have huge numbers of favs and alerts from users that are not active and don't use these at all.
-
@Suty
but the fav section itself will not be deleted for sure? -

At a location check the forecast for Waves & tides -
It would be great to have the notifications ordered in different ways (Alphabetical, number of hours of matching criteria,…). Right now, I do not understand the way it is ordered

can you please be more clear on this?
at the moment my problem is that if i press the migration button, the favorite spot is gone.
which is a very very bad behaviour.
after migration i have to rename the spot again and save it to the favorite section.so what will be deleted after 15.05?
all favs? or just the setted alerts for the favorites? -
@Mista-Fly Hi, the favorite section will be kept, only alerts that are not migrated will be completely deleted probably. But there is a plenty of time and we are working on easier solution for users with tenths or hundreds of alerts to migrate.

Hi
Just a message to let you know that I am also so so disappointed about this update. I used this app every day for weather alerts for my sports and the red lines in favorite view was perfect. Now in notifications sections it’s not convenient at all to read the next weather opportunities regarding all my alerts.
I don’t use push notifications to inform me but I go myself in the app, a good start to improve readability would be to to display in notification view in first place the alert triggered (with red mark) in second place notifications not triggered and in third place the notifications disabled
Thank you, I am ready to help if you want more user feedback

Red bars are still shown in the 5 days forecast of the Notifications list.
Clicking on this notification graph, you get the detail in your Favorite forecast table.
Note that the 5 days forecast of the Notifications list is probably inconsistent because the graph seems to be the one of ECMWF and my chosen model for this notification is Meteoblue.

@idefix37
Thanks for your answer !
I know that red bars appears in alerts but I have so much alerts so it’s not readable
Developers should order them
It was much better experience before the update -
@poloh11
OK, I see. When an alert was triggered, previously the favorite was automatically placed at the top of the list. This was a very useful feature even with a limited number of alerts.
