Version 44 Has Landed – See What’s New!

I never cease to be amazed at the amount and quality of info Windy offers! I love this thing. Well done, you guys rock!
-
There is no weather app that is better. As a Mariner/charter captain off the New England coast and on the North Atlantic, I have complete confidence in the Windy forecast to make to “go/no go” decision.
Thank you

@Polina-Nozdrina thanks for the notification! Haven't figured out updating it yet on Android but will, the 15 day forecast is encouraging! Why I'm here? Well my wife who owns the subscription is mad keen on windy, it's the only thing she will subscribe to. We use it to plan our back country hiking trips here in New Zealand and it's never let us down. I think she would be blissed out of she got some windy gear, she's a real weather geek.
One thing I might mention is perhaps having the ability to force the location searching to a country, on demand, as we often get a range of other country locations which aren't required.

I tell one thing: I am super happy that you are. I am active traveller and use Windy super often to plan trips, mountain walks, kayaking and longer trips. Super reliable, very well prepared and I welcome all new changes with joy !
Thank you !

The only missing feature is a proper way to choose a default model & overlay. "Use last overlay" on start-up is a poor substitute. I want to be able to get it to open UKV with wind overlay regardless of the state I left the app in. Is this a technical nightmare to build, or do you truly believe "use last overlay" is the best way to deliver this?

Travel anywhere on the planet and get accurate timely weather information at your fingertips. Innovation shows in the interface and features and continues to evolve. I love it!
-
Can you please add the ability to export the grib files for use in routing apps like qtvlm and weather4D?
-
@Mais78
You should be able to obtain the various free GRIB2 files yourself from the owners of the model (ex. NOAA for GFS model). Other models Windy has to pay for. -
@Ahmed-A-AS said in Version 44 Has Landed – See What’s New!:
@Polina-Nozdrina You have forgotten to mention that the available satellite imagery for free users reduced to only one hour! And what's next? 30 minutes?!
You should not complain for something that is free
-
@Wheats yes I know but it would be great to have them in one app. Windy pays for them and I pay Windy to use them (premium), not sure it should be a problem
-
@Mais78 I could be wrong but I don't think they can legally share paid for data in the way you want it. They can visualize it, present it, calculate on it, but I doubt they can just post the GRIB2 files for us to use.
The free ones, maybe they could. Maybe if enough of the user base wants this capability then they will put it higher on the priority list.

Windy is my most used weather app! Mahalo Nui for making it even better. Really like the swell forecast layer 👍
-
I love the improvement! Keep up the good work guys.

The 8th year in a row when I'm planning my paraglide sesions with Windity and I never miss. Chapeu!

I've been using Windy for quite some time now, and have loved it. All the updates and improvements have been great, but I have a problem.. I'm old. I can't seem to find a lot of the things that have been added. Two things I'd like to see, a fixed link to a how to video, and I'd like to see a jet stream option.
Thanks for all the hard work, much success to the team.

Hi guys, I’ve just checked out the latest update to the Windy app! It looks awesome with the new features.
Firstly, the 15-day forecast for ECMWF and GFS models is an excellent new feature . I always use the ECMWF for accuracy, and now with its full 15-day outlook is really nice. The same long-range upgrade to the GFS model is a good bonus.
I can’t comment on the HI-RES feature, but I’m sure it will be excellent for planning outdoor events.
The added MTG integration forecasts should be far more reliable. The favorites are now easier to access and arrange for my layers, spots, and settings.
Given all these new updates, Windy is still simple and user-friendly. I’m just someone who likes staying prepared, I’m a grey nomad, therefore, I can’t afford the premium version however this free app helps me keep ahead of any weather conditions and just keeps getting better
-
@Polina-Nozdrina hi, not sure is the right place to ask, but is there way to see the tides? If not, will be a great feature. Is not exactly weather forecast but a component.

Excellent App.User friendly, with accurate data

I want to win a winter jacket!
I've used windy app to my navigation in Mediterranean (Malta, Italy. Greece and Turkey), south American (where I live 'Porto Alegre-RS area and Lagoa dos Patos) and on my Atlantic Ocean crossings (Palma de Mallorca to Barbados and St Martin to back to Palma). Congratulations by this amazing app. It's reliable and very useful. I'm considering to go premium due to what it gives to us for free! -
界面友好,非常实用!
