I’d like to visualize my routing on Windy and have it synced with the Windy timeline. Specifically, I want to display a small boat icon (or another icon) that represents the boat’s position, moving along the route in sync with the timeline. This functionality is similar to how the latest Vendee Globe 2024 plugin displays real-time boat routing.

What I’ve Tried So Far:

1.	**Importing GPX to Windy**

I can visualize the route with all available models, but it does not display the boat’s position at specific times, and there’s no icon representation for the boat.

2.	**Using the Route Planner**

When I import the GPX into the route planner, it syncs the waypoints with the timeline. However, the visualization is not very clear, it lacks an icon to represent the boat, and it only works with the GFS model.

Questions:
•	Is it possible to display a moving boat icon (or another representative icon) along my route synced with the timeline in Windy?
•	Should I modify the format or structure of my GPX files to enable this functionality?Any guidance or advice from the community would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Here’s an example of what my GPX file looks like:

If you mean the Route planner in Windy, it is NOT available with GFS but with the ECMWF model.
However you are right when you says that the Route planner is only based on an averaged speed along the route in Windy.
By the way I see in your screenshot that you did not turn ON this speed button. That would give you a rough estimate of the weather on your route if 12 kt is your averaged speed.

Thanks for you reply.
You are correct, this is exact same question, sorry for the duplicate.

The idea is to be able to analyse a sailing route created and optimized for the GFS model with the ECMWF model.

The route planner is only available with the GFS model so it does not really help and it has a notion of average speed which does not work for a sailing boat where the speed will vary a lot, typically between 0 and 25 knots.

Your question is the same as the ones in this topic
https://community.windy.com/topic/37555/routing-boat
If you need more explanation, let me know. But it doesn't seem possible to reproduce what was shown 4 years ago.
Could you tell us why you would like the check your routing path in Windy ? It was calculated by your routing software based on weather prediction.
