@idefix37 I'm confused. So is there currently a setting for the default model for premium users or not? If not, can it be added? I find it quite annoying having to switch to D2 and meteorogram view every time I open Windy. Thanks.

Try it. But don't quit Windy with the Radar or Satellite layers. Quit it when the model you prefer is displayed on the screen.

@idefix37 having the exact same issue. Quitting on a different view doesn’t seem to persist the selected model.

@darrendavid It should keep the model, if you use as a default setup "use last overlay" in your settings. Then it remembers the layer and also the model from the time when you close our app.

@Suty Confirming what people wrote earlier. Even when I set ‘use last overlay’, it goes back to the default when I restart the app. I think there are at least two places where one can switch between models. It goes back to ECMWF in both places. It does remember when I switch to the Waves layer and restart. But only the layer, not the model.

@rmoehn Okay and do you talk about the model used on the map, or in the forecast detail?

Because of this bug or missing feature I have just switched to another app. This is so frustrating.
                  OK bye

@danijel.kurincic Please tell us more about the bug. Do you miss that you can't set the default model in the detail?

I’ve noticed the same behavior, especially when switching between Radar/Satellite and forecast layers. The “Use last overlay” option helps a bit, but it still seems inconsistent depending on how the app is launched. From what I’ve read in other discussions, this has been affecting both Premium and non-Premium users for quite a while.

A proper dedicated “Default Forecast Model” setting would honestly make the experience much smoother, especially for users who rely on ICON, UKV, AROME, or regional models instead of ECMWF. Different regions clearly benefit from different models, so having to manually switch every time gets frustrating fast. (community.windy.com)

+1 that I am in a region where ECMWF is plain wrong most of the time, and it makes it really annoying/confusing when I don't notice that model changed underneath my hand.
