Low resolution data for sailors at sea (low bandwidth) ?
-
Hi Ludovic,
Is there any exisiting features (did not find yet) or soon to come developments to allow the use of the windy web with lower bandwidth ?
we love windy to prepare for sailing races, but when we are at sea, we often are limited in bandwidth, either by weak 3G/4G/5G signal or low bandwidth satelitte communication sysrems (iridium go exec for instance).
the idea would be to have a mode where the mesh of the data displayed and transiting is much larger.
thanks a lot for your attention

Bonjour Ludovic,Access to Windy requires a broadband internet connection. This is what competitors do in the current Vendée Globe since many of them use windy.com on board.
There is no way to use Windy via low bandwidth like via Iridium Go or Certus. Windy would have to stream GRIB files to use them on a special Windy viewer and I don't think Windy is prepared to do that.Windy had created the Offline mode some time ago, but apparently it was very little used and it seems to have been removed.
@Suty do you confirm ?Bon vent avec Windy.
