As others have pointed out, in mountainous areas, the site really loses value, because you don't know if the prediction for rain or temperature is of the forecast is representative of the area you plan to travel. This is critical in areas where the rain/snow line can really have an impact. S</p>
<p dir="auto">Spotwx for example tells you the elevation of the model you are using. There can easily be a difference of 500m or more.</p>

<p dir="auto">Spotwx displays the elevation of the model at the location you selected.<br />
Windy does the same thing in <em>Sounding forecast</em> at any location. But in addition Windy displays the actual elevation. This is a big advantage because I doubt you know the altitude of the area where you plan to travel.</p>
