Observation Gust Measurement
-
Hello,
It is likely that I am just too blind to find the function.
I am really missing the gust data of wind measurements in the observation view in the app. For most of the stations that I am looking at I can only see the average measured wind.
How can I access this information?Greetings

Wind gusts are displayed in weather stations, but only the max wind gusts and I think only when strong wind conditions. What area are you looking at ? -
.... at airports, wx observations provided by using METAR code. Gusts are shown if exceed the mean wind speed by 10kts or more. (in the 10 minutes preceding the time of the report).
So, at airports, you may see wind 20kt gust 32kt (but not 20kt gust 28kt).
Reports from personal wx stations provide gusts with no such limits.
e.g. 10 kt gust 12 kt

Hy,
I looked into more stations now.
To be honest I was comparing the way Windy displays the date with the way the App Windfinder displays it, which was the app I mainly used before I switched to Windy.
If I try to find the same stations in both Apps the amount of displayed data stays the same.
Some Stations only with mean Wind
Some Stations with points of gusts when a certain difference is reached. The only thing I can not explain are a certain set of Stations which are shown in windfinder which are not displayed in Windy at all for example a station in Tarifa.
Is there a problem with properitary data? Or did Windy decide to not tab into certain data sources?

Observations from wx. station in Tarifa, Spain is available in windy.com.
It is an official WMO station, reporting now 29kt.
.This station also provides wind gusts
(as I found out in https://www.ogimet.com/cgi-bin/gsynres?lang=en&ind=08458&decoded=yes&ndays=2&ano=2024&mes=12&day=26&hora=12 )
but I don't know why wind gusts are not shown in windy.
