Cannot add widget on Android 14 - add button on widget configuration screen not responding

Hi all,
I cannot add a widget to my home screen, several input items on the widget configuration do not respond to clicks.
Please see the attached screen recording.
There are already several widgets om the home screen, I added those way back, easily 5 or 6 months ago.

I'm on a Fairphone 5 with Android 14. The screen recording contains the Android settings screen with all the details.
Fairphone has the "Quickstep" launcher, however I am using Nova Launcher. Tested adding the widget for both launchers, but same bug.
I'm currently on Windy 44.0.4.

I am an Android Developer, so if you need some more technical details or debugging, don't hesitate to ask.

I would like to add that I am having the same issue with my Pixel 9 Pro running Android 15.

Also running Nova launcher and have other widgets working fine. The issue is that the add widget button is unresponsive, while still being able to scroll and adjust some settings. Forecast, Theme and Map settings are unresponsive.

After 5-10 seconds or so it crashes the widget setting view and sends me to the last app used rather than back to the launcher.

If anyone has any tips for me an Leonj it would be most appreciated. I can also note that my app mentions that I need to allow Windy to run in the background , but I have already made those changes in the settings so the app doesn't seem to detect it.

I'll dig into Nova Launcher settings and see if it is something on their end I can tweak. But most likely, it is the Windy Widget application that is running into an issue.

@Stennan HI, please open the Battery consumption page in your device and tap on the text, not the switch. The new menu should open and there should be a solution for this.

@leonj Hi. I think this is a rare bug (we are working on the solution), however I think this workaround could help to resolve this issue:

go to application settings of Windy.com application
open permissions
grant location permissions (All the time option)
grant battery consumption permissions (Unrestricted)
try to add a widget
