Cloud History and Adding Personal Weather Station
-
Hiya,
We are on a hill farm in West Wales. I have a Personal Weather Station I'd like to set up to report to Windy, but I cannot find how to do so. I also want to look at the history of cloudiness for our location, but finding a way to do that is also not obvious. Can anyone help me? Thanks. -
@cmariepurple , hi, as a premium user ,you shouldve acces to the satelitte archive... so windy may answer better than me on that matter
( if not, zoomearth has a lot of sat imagery and also earthschool backlogs cloud cover forecasts graphics( not images)... or you could try
https://apps.sentinel-hub.com/eo-browser
that has a ton of images if youre really desperate
i bet met office has some kinda material too, an email to them might help, if its utterly important
hope this might be helpfull, i might know more sites, but ill stop here cause this is kind of advertising other weather sites)
i cannot tell how to connect your station, cause its 15 years since i sent to W.U. and cwops, which i gave up in the bitter end due to my pc's hang to hang up during the diurnal cycle .
but may i ask what wx station ( and data logging software( weatherlink etc)) you use???
good luck and happy new year

To add your Personal Weather Station to Windy, you typically need to use a service like Weather Underground or Meteomatics, which can integrate with Windy. These services often have guidelines for connecting your PWS.

In addition ....
if you have already set your wx. station sending data to WeatherUnderground (WU)
you can use the "forwarder" (I found in Github, made by Leo @xd1936 ) to share your data with Windy (and CWOP)

Setting up a Personal Weather Station (PWS) to report data to Windy and accessing cloudiness history for your location can be done with a few steps. For integrating your PWS, you’ll need to ensure it's compatible with Windy and supports data sharing via APIs like Weather Underground or similar services. Create an account on Windy and navigate to the PWS section to link your station. For viewing cloudiness history, Windy may not directly offer historical cloud data, but third-party weather platforms or local meteorological services could provide this.
