Read "limitations", in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightning_detectorWhenever lightning appears, is it a storm or just the beginning?

Usually is a thunderstorm.
But, as lightning detectors use radio signals emitted by lightning, it is not unusual to be "triggered" by radio signals from other sources. Such false signals are generated by many common environmental sources (auto ignitions, fluorescent lights, TV sets, electric motors, high voltage wires etc.)
