Windy often fails to find my location using the “Find My Location” feature. I have come to realize that the way to get it to work is to 1st go to another gps enabled app like Aquamap or Navionics Boating and request the location then go back to Windy and ask again. Doing this works 100% of the time. After a minute or two Windy is again unable find the GOS location without repeating these steps. I would speculate that Windy can read the GPS data if another app has recently requested it is but is unable to pull it from IOS location services by itself.

@dtwestrick Hi there, according to tests, Windy.com is normally capable of getting the GPS location of the device, if you allow Windy.com to use it in your settings.

@Suty I’ve been having the exact same problem with my iOS devices (iPhone pro max 13 and iPad Pro m1). It’s been like this for some time… It’s been a real struggle to get weather info for my current gps location, which was super annoying on our recent sailing voyage across the Pacific Ocean. Literally would take 5min of constantly retrying the home button long press and restarting the app to eventually get it to work. No combo ever seemed to work consistently, except for loading navionics first to poll the current gps location then loading Windy.

@Suty I just figured out the problem/bug. In the iOS app permissions for location access, the Precise toggle was enabled. Once I disable Precise location the app gets the location no problems. Pretty easy to replicate now.

@marklah HI, yes, you are right, however, we are planning to fix this issue in next version 46.
