Startup Location

Re: Startup location
Like others have reported, the startup location for me is always where I first started using Windy. Of course I now am sailing 1000's of miles from where that was so it is somewhat annoying.
I originally started using Windy for free and then some years ago switched to Premium membership.
- I have tried different browsers (Chrome, Firefox) and different laptops.
- I have changed from Windows 10 to Windows11
- I have changed all available settings in the startup layer and location
- The startup layer always works no matter which layer is chosen
- The startup location is always wrong and always the same no matter which method of choosing the startup location is used.
- The startup location indicated in settings is remembered correctly just ignored
Obviously this bug is not a show stopper but it can be very irritating at times.

Does your laptop have a GPS chip? -
@idefix37 No. It does not have a GPS chip.

So it works by IP. Not accurate. -
@idefix37 Hmmm, I guess you do not understand the problem. Nobody actually needs to know where anybody is via GPS or otherwise.
Asking Windy to startup at a favorite location requires no outside data.
My Windy always starts up at a specific location off San Diego which is where I first started Windy several years ago.
It does not matter where I am on the planet that is where Windy starts up. It never changes no matter how I set the the start location in settings.
It has zero to do with inaccurate location knowledge at the start up time.
Thanks

My answer was based on your explanation:
I now am sailing 1000's of miles from where that was
It seemed useful to me then to use GPS positioning in the context of marine voyages.

Have you tried logging into a different device? Does it still start at that other location?
Another thought - is your default location set on Windows to that place?- would a default location on Windows even override the Windy startup settings?!
Other than that I have no other ideas - weird for it to somehow remember that location even after setting the startup layer differently, and trying different browsers, and upgrading windows.
