Hi all, I'm new to Windy and primarily want to use it for astronomy so I've been playing around looking at cloud cover, layers etc. One thing I have noticed is when changing from the default model and the BOM model (access) is the huge difference in forecast distances.
With no formal help section that spells out the details of each layer and model (I've looked at the one in the FAQ section here) I'm only guessing when I assume that the BOM model tops out at 20km? The default is happy to predict 50-60km+. So I'm guessing 20km means 20km+?

      Thanks in advance. 🐀

@h2orat May I ask what info in our app do you exactly mean? Can you share the screenshot?

So sorry! I didn't mention - it's when I look at the "visibility" module. Here's screenshots of ECMWF, ACCESS and ACCESS-SY

Many thanks for getting back to me!

@h2orat Hi, in this case, we can't tell you which model is better for the layer. I would recommend checking all models and compare this data with real situations, so you can evaluate our data in the future for your specific purpose.

To make Visibility clearer for you:

              Visibility parameter by ECMWF (IFS/HRES)
              https://codes.ecmwf.int/grib/param-db/3020
              and
              https://confluence.ecmwf.int/plugins/servlet/mobile?contentId=474808908#content/view/474808908
Max visibility distance in ECMWF computation tests was 50km and more.

              Visibility parameter by BoM (ACCESS)
              http://www.bom.gov.au/research/publications/researchreports/BRR-035.pdf
Max visibility distance in BoM computation tests was not more than 20 km.
So it is very likely that they do not provide data greater than 20 km.

That's perfect thankyou, I assumed it was because it only went up to twenty but wanted to check.
