In the coming days my area is expecting sub zero temperatures. My preparation from experience is more drastic below -10C. Weather com forecasts-8, environment Canada -7, AccuWeather-10, the weather network-6. Windy is forecasting-15C. Why would there be such a significant spread?

      Cheers

What weather model do you use in Windy and where exactly?
Windy's default model has a resolution of 9 km, and if you're in the BC mountains, it can "see" your location at a higher altitude. But in Windy, there are several weather models, including a Canadian model, that can probably provide better temperature forecasts for your location.

            Thank you.
The banks of the Fraser river are surrounded by high mountains. So global models like the ECMWF and GFS with a medium resolution cannot provide correct temperature prediction.
As a Premium user you can use the Observation vs forecast tool to find the best model for temperature.
Here I selected a weather station near Agassiz. In the red rectangle you see the median temperature error by models.

The regional models like HRDPS, HRRR, NAM are a bit better but the best is definitively METEOBLUE.
This model is only available in the local forecast table, not as a map, but provides right temperature forecasts in mountainous areas.

If you need further explanation just let me know.
