Customizing Color Scales not working
-
I was trying to fix the color scales in the latest update and just found out the import and export type log wasn't working, I couldn't add or remove anything from there. It used to work before and without this feature working, I would have 100x harder work to get the layers I want. I do sometimes change color schemes for different context, but when I am unable to do that, it just stirs up the entire system. I hope it's just a bug that came from the new update and that it can be fixed.

Also another error I just detected. Dew Point is no longer able to customize color with, which was something that only was added less then 6 months ago. Now Dew point colors are synced with the temperature and when I can't change any color scales by the import/export, It's stuck with the default temperature scale.

I get the same issue. It is no longer possible to modify directly the code. Hope this will be fix soon.
(Same in the iOS app, but from even longer time).Dew Point is no longer able to customize color with
I don’t remember it was possible to customise separately Temperature and Dew point layer.
On my side, the Wind layer and the Temperature layer are stuck to default color scales. All other color scales are still customized.

@Filip_K Can you urgently look into this Color-Scale-unable-to-edit problem? It's a big problem for me too. Besides, when entering the Menu->Settings->Colors from Satellite layer, the main window switches automatically to Wind layer and remains so after Exit, necessitating an otherwise unnecessary selection to switch back to Satellite.

@hangInThere I understand your concerns. I hope too windy addresses this quickly. I did came up with a temporarily fix for my end, and that was me pasting in my own color scheme in though my Windy app still running version 44. I could now use my color scheme on the web, though I notice that the color scheme no longer matches with observation. I have an image here.
Fun Fact: I have used this color scheme for 6 years with minor fixes and adjustments though the years and made this home for me. I want to continue to use it for at least another 6+ years if possible. Anyways, let's weather this bug and we will come back stronger and better then before.

Referring to my previous post
On my side, the Wind layer and the Temperature layer are stuck to default color scales. All other color scales are still customized.
I got back my customized color scales by clicking on Save created color. My setting were still shown in the color setting window.
EDIT
As soon as I leave the website and come back to it, the color of these layers are back to default setting. That means the color setting is not saved. -
HI, we are sorry about this issue, we already investigate it and its potential cause. Hopefully the fix will be released as soon as possible.
-
@idefix37 Could you please check the error console in that app, when your colors were not saved?
We tested the behavior of changing the colors, with clicking the Save button and it works. Without that button, it logically doesn't save the new change. Could you please test it once again?

@Suty
There is no error in the error console.Do you mean this Save button ?
Pressing this button changes the colors. But the change is replaced by default colors when leaving and opening again the app

Same here
I can't seem to remove or insert anything to the color scale
I cleared my cookies just recently and now I can't change anything
Pasting into the options doesn't seem to do aynthing, shouldn't the colors and the options sync with your account when you relog back in and reload the website?

Yet another bug report
Cannot modify the colour scale via the windy.com website by pasting it in the text area. Does not let you write anything in there...
However, i can modify it if i change each line in the coloured box above the text area
looking forwards to the fix ;-)
Also if temperature of sea air and dewpoint could be different i would appreciate that

@Suty Please revert back to the previous working version if these bugs cannot be fixed today.
Normal software development practice is to run regression to verify the new version does not break things before release. Since apparently this didn't happen here, now ending up involving your clients in your "externalized" regression test, the right thing to do is to retract this broken version to put a stop to the disruption to your clients until you have run thorough internal regression tests and cleaned it up.

FYI
I cannot edit the color scale for thermals, neither with our without graphic compability mode.regards Guido

All mentioned troubles with customization tool for colors should be solved in the fix that will be release today probably. Thank you for all your reports and patience.

@Suty When accessing via chrome it still will not load my customized and saved color palette. The apps do. It doesn't work for the wind and the rain, thunder layer only. I tried to import + save several time just now. The palette is in there, it just doesn't load unless I import it again.

@marko-rogan
I had the same problem with Wind and Temperature. Now it's partially solved. I open Windy with the Wind layer, but I get the default color palette. I then have to switch to another layer and back to Wind to get my custom colors. -
@idefix37 It doesn't help me. I tried what you said and when switching back to wind it still on the default color palette. It's only if I go into the customize colors, pick wind, click the import/export button, and confirm the palette with import below it loads the already saved palette. So the numbers are in there they just don't load. I tried again just now.

@Suty The fix is very unstable. After importing custom color list, it works well for a while, and out of a blue reverts to yet another custom color list, and later reverts to default color list and stays this way forever.

@hangInThere Hi, we are planning to release the new update of our app today, it should help.
