Hi, maybe a newbie question (sorry if so), but I can't figure it out. What's that plane icon I can see all the time here?

I toggled every single switch in the settings, emptied the map of all the layers...

But nothing. I don't know what it is and also - this is the weirdest part - clicking on it does absolutely nothing. It's basically 'transparent for clicking' and clicking on it drops the marker on that location behind that icon. Wherever I am on the map, that plane icon is not clickable.

Again, maybe this is really just a newbie question, but I'd really like to know. Or should that icon be clickable and display an option for something?

Screenshots are all from Chrome on Windows, latest update as of today.

      Thank you!

You never tried to click on it as you do with the layer buttons just above ?

I just leave you 2 pictures and let you guess :)

@idefix37 Thanks, but did you read my post where I explicitly wrote:

I CANNOT click on it. That's the whole point of my post. Nothing happens. But at least I know now that something SHOULD happen. So there must be some glitch in Chrome caused by something I don't know yet.

I admit that I skimmed your post and did not read it carefully, sorry.
I note that your screenshots have been made with the Radar+ layer as I can see the 2 logos of the data providers.
With this type of layer the plane icon does not work, because there is nothing special to see at high level in this layer. And the icon does not show the label Altitude as you can see on my first screenshot.
This icon works only for Wind, Temperature, Dew point layers, to see what are the data at higher level in free atmosphere. For example if you want to see the jet stream, set Wind and the Altitude slider to 300 hPa.
But if you use Windy only for Radar, Radar + or Satellite, this icon is useless.

@idefix37 Thank you for this explanation. That makes perfect sense, of course. It works. But our conversation here shows that this UI element is about as clear as mud for newbies and can cause stupid questions like mine ;-) So maybe an idea for improvement would be to just hide that plane/altitude icon in the first place and make it only on appear on layers that actually do support changing the altitude. That would make way more sense than having a useless, non-clickable icon shown all the time on layers that don't need it. Thanks again!
