Version 45 is Here! VFR Airspace Maps & a 15-Day Model Comparison
-
We’re excited to announce the release of Windy.com Version 45, bringing you powerful new tools for weather forecasting and flight planning!
✈️ VFR Airspace Maps for Pilots
Pilots and aviation enthusiasts can now access VFR airspace maps directly in Windy. Each airport map now displays airspace classification, name, and altitude limits, providing crucial situational awareness. These visual enhancements ensure you can quickly assess controlled and uncontrolled airspace, making your flight planning safer and more efficient.
📊 Compare 15-Day Forecasts in Model Comparison
In our Model Comparison tool, you can compare weather forecasts for up to 15 days, helping you make better long-term weather predictions. Whether tracking storms, planning outdoor activities, or scheduling flights, this feature gives you a broader view of potential weather changes.
🔔 Easily migrate favorites to alerts
As we enhance our alert system by providing a separate category for it, we’re providing you with the option to migrate your existing alerts, previously stored under Favorites. Please note that all alerts must be migrated by May 15, 2025, to prevent loss.

Great work! I am a pilot and love to see the progress in those areas! -
@Polina-Nozdrina Thanks for these updates! I am an aviation meteorologist and use Windy daily. I know it's not easy but one day I would love if there was a base layer for all of the CWSUs and Oceanic FIRs. And the ability to create a cross section that plotted various meteorological factors, both time phased and static! Would help immensely in forecasting visuals/no visuals along airport approaches. Thanks again for these awesome updates!

I'm not an aviation expert, but for a cross-section, you can try the route planner.
On desktop, select "Distance & Planning" at the top of the menu.
Click where you want to place the start point of the cross-section.
Add the endpoint at the airport.
Choose VFR or IFR.
You can add an approach speed. Don't forget to tick the "Speed" button. To change the heading and distance grab the first waypoint
Intermediate waypoints can be added by clicking on the route.
You can also save multiple approach routes to your favorites for easy retrieval.
Check More options.
Route planner is also available in the mobile app. -
@Polina-Nozdrina great update! This is my go to weather app and you guys just keep making it better. Thanks!
-
Solid improvements - love the 15 day forecasts comparison!
Would like to see some scoring of the models - like forecast skill / bias, otherwise its a bit of a guessing game, but still the best we got!p.s. its alergy season and you guys dont yet show the different allergens from CAMS - would be REALLY useful to ppl suffering.
- there is also FMI SILAM
Keep it coming and good vibes!

Awesome updates. This is my “go too” source for weather.

@Polina-Nozdrina Windy was recommended to me by a friend and it's the best discovery this year so far! I recommend Windy to my family and friends. I love it. Keep up the great work and upgrades!! Thanks

As a photographer, this is app is a must. Alerts feature is fantastic.
-
@Polina-Nozdrina the most comprehensive and accurate weather application available. Whether you be a professional or just an outside enthusiast, Windy is a must have. No other application covers so many points across so many models allowing the user to make proper informed decision about their plans. Absolutely love it. Thank you team Windy.

@paul-raper so this is literally the only place I could find to post this. Yall have absolutely made the app sooooo hard to use. I could t even figure out his to post a question. WTH are yall doing over there? I can’t figure out how to save favorites? I get stuck in a an enslesss looop of promps showing me how to save favorite. I can’t use the compare mode, I can’t customize my views. I’m sooo disappointed in this new version that I’m considering not even using it any more.

Great work! You keep improving and this really makes Windy an amazing tool for weather forecasts. For me personally the integration of UWC-West would be a very nice addition!
-
Nice! Commenting to get Merch.
Does radar+ use satellite obs to simulate and predict precip?
-
Nice work! As a drone pilot I would love to be able to check wind speed at multiple heights between GND and 120 meters
-
Some models, including the ECMWF one, display wind at the surface and at 100m high. But none display intermediate values.
-
@Polina-Nozdrina great tool thank you. GB

Best weather app without a 10.00 membership!
This app has helped save lives thank you for making it affordable -
Really great app. Would love it so that when I choose a forecast model it stays on the model when I reopen the app instead of always changing back to default ECMWF. It is set up in settings to use last overlay but still doesn't work. Thank you
