Anyone else noticing small rain shifts compared to local forecasts?
-
Hey everyone,
I've been using Windy regularly for planning small outdoor events, and I’ve noticed a few times that the rain prediction on Windy is slightly off compared to my local weather apps—sometimes by just an hour or so.
Not a big deal, but I’m wondering if anyone else has seen similar small shifts? Could this be due to the model differences or update timings?
Just curious if this is something normal or maybe something I should adjust for when planning.
Thanks!

Hi
Do you check all weather models available in your area ? You don’t say where you observe this discrepancy.
Windy displays the rain amount predicted by a selected model during the last hour. Or 3h if you set this time step.
And Windy does not display the rain amount less than 0.1mm. -

I’ll definitely look into that, especially since it sounds like some models may have a finer resolution. I’ve been using the 1-hour time step, so that makes sense why the rain amount might be off slightly. I’ll keep that in mind next time I’m planning an event and try comparing models to see if there’s a significant difference. Appreciate the info! concrete companies Richmond VA
