Weather fronts
-
I started my career as a USAF navigator and retired as a USAir captain 40 years later. During those years I watched the weather very closely. How much safer and easier it would have been with "Windy". In those days pilots (and sailors) paid close attention to fronts where two air masses met. Fronts, especially cold fronts, are where all the action is, cumulonimbus clouds, high winds, heavy rain, hail, sudden wind shifts, turbulence, airframe icing, etc. In short, most of the things that cause damage and accidents. With our primitive tools, we tried to track the advance of cold fronts, usually at 20 to 50 knots, so we were prepared to deal with them.
So I am wondering why I can't find an overlay on Windy to show fronts. If it's not there, would you consider adding it for pilots and sailors. They must make up a large proportion of your clients.
Thank you for a great product. -

Indeed, Windy visualizes weather models, but these models are not capable of accurately plotting weather fronts. These are plotted by forecasters, and Windy doesn't employ any.
I hope that it will be possible with AI algorithms.
