Wildly inaccurate temp reports?
-
Trying to understand what I'm missing here, as the temperatures I'm seeing for N36°32'48'', W118°41'18'' are wildly inaccurate. It will definitely not be getting anywhere near a low of 17° F at 5AM on Monday, 4/28. Coordinates seem correct, elevation seems correct, what am I missing here? I can't really use this for trip planning here if it's going to be this unreliable. Any input appreciated. Thank you .

Your trip is apparently planned in a mountainous region. It is well known that global models, for example the ECMWF model with a 9km resolution, are not accurate for predicting temperatures in mountain.
However, you can use them for precipitation, sunshine, etc. But for temperatures, you should use high-resolution models like HRRR or even NAM in Windy. This is the advantage of Windy in that it offers several models.
We can recommend the Meteoblue model, which is excellent in the mountains, but it is only available in the detailed forecast table not as a map layer. -
@idefix37 That is awesome support, thanks very much.
