Request to add Italian ICON-2I, MOLOCH Models
-
Good afternoon, considering the complexity of the Italian territory, I believe it would be useful to add the high-resolution Italian models ICON-2I (2.2Km) and MOLOCH (1.25Km). At least in my personal experience, the currently available models do not seem to be very accurate, and I believe that integrating these models could lead to better results.

@Mikz I agree, it'd be a great idea to add these models for Italy!

I agree with you. For central and southern Italy (except for Sardinia, which has AROME HD), there isn’t a decent high-resolution model available. The ones currently offered are practically useless given the complex orography and terrain of the Italian peninsula.
I really hope a high-resolution model covering these areas will be added at some point. Windy is now a cutting-edge product, so I would expect to have access to quality data — at least for certain regions, especially for those of us paying for the premium version.

@michele7 As far as I know, we are not planning to add more local models for Europe for now.
-
@Suty I hope you will reconsider, since right now there are high-resolution models (i.e. 2-2-5 km resolution) for France (AROME), UK (UKV), Germany (ICON-D2), but there is no high-res model covering the entire Italian territory. I fully endorse previous comments, i think MOLOCH would be a great addition!

Good afternoon! I agree that integrating higher-resolution models like ICON-2I and MOLOCH could significantly improve accuracy, especially given the complex nature of the Italian territory. These models could provide more precise data, leading to better results overall. It’s definitely worth considering for enhanced performance.

@Irfan-tipu I will add Bolam and WRF too,are good weather models!

I agree. The app should ideally provide a high-resolution forecast model like MOLOCH for Italy. Of course, it would be fair to have a high-resolution model for every country, but I understand that the costs would be enormous. However, Italy has a very complex orography and is located in a strategic and meteorologically interesting position in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea.

@michele7 Hello, thank you for your suggestions. Overall, we are evaluating several local models, and we may add more in the future. For now, there is no plan for release. We will keep you informed. Have a nice day, Niki
