I assume there is no relationship between windy.com and windy.app. The latter is running a hard-sell membership discount ranging from monthly $4.99, annually $19.99, or lifetime $59.99.
They claim to provide historical data, something that I know is vv important to a small portion of the windy community. They are also focused on rapid, simple answers to questions in the purchase space (many of which deal with accuracy.
Can anyone define for me the current status of this project relative to: (a) accuracy, (b) responsiveness, (c) ongoing efforts to improve and/or collaborate, and (d) historical data. I have seen suggestions about memberships for windy.com (that domain must have cost a fortune), but I see only 'donations.'
I strongly feel this is the right horse to back, with a great community. I'm willing to give the same amount here (perhaps many of us should). I do, however, want to understand any relationships between the 2 dominant apps -- esp when one of them is aggressively capitalizing.
Any comments appreciated.

@MV-SE
Which Windy mobile app do you mean? Is it this one?
https://community.windy.com/topic/3756/warning-russian-windy-app-uses-our-name-and-want-you-to-pay-for-nothing
As far as I know this app has no connection with windy.com.
The true app of windy.com shows the same logo as the website.
Windy.com and the app are free but you can donate to support them. -
I am using a Windows laptop. When clicking on airports (I'm a pilot) all I see now is heliports. What am I doing wrong?

Could well be that they're on the same layer. Perhaps zoom out a little and only the main airports remain.

Dear Windy crew. May you consider implementing new colors for the wave prediction model? Today only large variations can be seen due to the very similar colors of the model. I am a surfer and often leave the app to consult other sites, due to the difficulty of filling. My suggestion is to implement the same traditionally colors used for WW models. Or, provide customizable palettes. O don't know If here is the right place to post It... please let me know.

@hfrasson
You have already customisable colour palettes on Windy !
Just go to:
Settings ==> Modify layers colors ==> Select overlay ==>Waves
https://community.windy.com/topic/6455/colors/2
This example is given for Wind, but the way for Wave is the same. You can change colours and range (only on website windy.com, not in the mobile app. You must login with the same account and your modification will be applied to your mobile app too) -
@idefix37 Thanks a Lot! And Thanks for windy developers!

@xiyakl
does windy work via satellite? -
@phi62
Windy visualizes models of European and American weather prediction centers. Windy does not make its own forecasts. These numerical weather prediction centers use satellite data during the initialization phase or assimilation.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Numerical_weather_prediction
Then how does Windy get the data from these centers? probably via the internet. -
Planning longer crossings at sea is a breeze with you great app. I can become familiar with weather conditions in future sailing areas by checking daily how the wind develops.
A question: I can’t see cold or warm fronts. In the app... it would be a great feature. Or have I just missed it?
Thanks for a great app!

Hi ,will someone please tell me how to show the Magothy Marina as my home for my sailboat ? Thank you👍

@jssjr Your start-up is amazing. We plan to set sail for a couple years and I believe our safety will include tapping into your database.
Thank you for your hard work. Let me know how we can assist.

hei ho.
greetings out of bavaria.
Great weather page! I use it all the time and we also could say that even thunderbolt-flashes are reported very precise. Very awesome!
Two things for you:
Perhaps you don't know it but its a weather warning in germany about wildfires that may occur because of the sunny weather. Its reported here as WBI (Waldbrand-Index) and goes till Thursday. And: a wish: could you list also UV-Indices? I can't find them and it would be great to have them too... greetings :D -
