From Storm Alerts to Forecasts on Your Garmin: Windy’s Biggest Update Yet
-
Version 46 is here and it's packed with features designed to give you earlier warnings, sharper visuals, and new ways to stay prepared on the go.
Let’s dive into what’s new. 💡
⚠️ Live Rain & Storm Alerts
We've launched Live Alerts, developed by us and driven by real-time changes in weather conditions. So that you're always one step ahead.
🌩️ Storm Alerts
Triggered by lightning activity detected within roughly an hour of your location. These alerts use multiple trusted data sources and are fine-tuned to warn you when a storm is on the way.☔️ Rain Alerts
Powered by real-time radar data, we detect short-term precipitation trends and alert you just before rain starts, including its expected intensity. 🌧️ℹ️ How to turn Live Alerts ON?
Go to “My Alerts” in the upper part of the menu and choose which alerts you want to receive.
📌 Weather Warnings That Stay Visible
Our new weather warnings bring official weather warnings from your local weather services straight to you and more accessible than ever.
They now appear 📍 pinned to your homepage and directly in the forecast detail. So whether it’s a wind advisory, thunderstorm warning, or another significant event – you’ll spot it fast, right where you need it.
🧭 Windy.com is now on Your Garmin
Big news for Garmin users. Windy.com is now officially available in the Garmin ConnectIQ Store, including a sleek, data-packed Watch Face and Widget.
⛰️ No matter where adventure takes you, the forecast is right on your wrist.
⌚️New widgets for iOS
👉 We’ve added new Weather Station widgets across the iOS family, so you can now check your favorite or nearby station data on your iPhone, Mac or Apple Watch at a glance.
No more unlocking your phone to check the pressure or temperature. Your watch just got a whole lot smarter.
🛰️ Radar and Satellite Just Got Smoother
We’ve given our radar and satellite layers a visual upgrade with a new renderer. 📡
This makes zoom animations smoother and playback crisper – so whether you're scanning clouds or watching rainfall progress, the view now feels more fluid and cinematic.🌡️ Custom Color Scale for Dew Point
For our pro users and weather geeks: You can now set your own color scale for the dew point layer. Fine-tune the map to your preferences and get clearer insight into moisture and heat stress conditions.
📲 Update Windy.com and Stay Ahead
We’re tuning Windy.com to be faster, smarter, and more relevant for your everyday forecasting needs. We’ve also fixed several bugs and made background improvements to keep everything running reliably on all your devices. 📲🖥️
Make sure your app is up to date and notifications are enabled to get the most out of the new features.
Let us know what you think and keep exploring with Windy.com 🌦️

@Sophia-V-Q-Stoltz I would have liked the Premium features on my watch! That the application could take into account a Premium Profile in order to avoid taking out my phone to have a more precise weather forecast. Hoping that the option arrives soon on Garmin (Fenix 7).
And I don't see the alerts on my Garmin Fenix 7 Apk. Version of June 15, 25

@sagea Hello, thank you for your suggestions and feedback. We will see what we can do about it in the future, alarms are not included inside the Watch Face and Widget for Garmin, at least just not yet :-) Have a nice day, Niki

This is a great update! The weather station widget is very helpful. Thanks to the Windy Team for all of the work put in.
A suggestion for a future update:
When viewing a forecast model for a location, the web version of Windy has the time since the model was last updated in the footer, just to the right of the ‘Compare’ button.
I find this very helpful when comparing forecast models to see which has been updated more recently, right in the forecast itself.
It would be great to expand this last updated time to the mobile apps in the forecast, as well in the ‘Compare’ forecast view in both mobile and web versions. As Meteoblue doesn’t have a map visualisation, there doesn’t currently appear to be a way to see when it was last updated in the iOS version.
Kind Regards,

@Sophia-V-Q-Stoltz Awesome work! I'm really happy with these features and cannot wait to test out the live alerts as well.
Might I suggest that the Live Alerts section isn't quite clear, and might need an UI tweak to make the separation between the Live Alerts and the "normal" Alerts more visible.

@Sophia-V-Q-Stoltz
Hello, there is still the bug on my mobile app that doesn't allow me to use the 3-dot 'more' in the lower right of the satellite image. I cannot change the time duration or the satellite type. The last two updates have changed what happens when I touch 'more' - nowcthe app closes. Samsung Galaxy 24+, Android. I've reported this 2× to staff. -
@DanStaley Could you please tell us more about the issue? Do you use any custom launcher on your device, or anything similar? We tested a lot on these devices and there is no issue on our end.
-
@Sophia-V-Q-Stoltz I am disappointed Windy widget is not available on fenix 6s - are you planning to add fenix 6s to compatible devices?

@trelemorele Hello, sadly some older devices will not allow us to implement Windy due to low memory of the device. We would be very happy to bring Windy to all your Garmin devices, but sadly, there are some limitations that we are not able to overcome. Have a nice day, Niki
