Switching weather-model in Wind-mode no longer possible?
-
I often use Windy in the Browser. Today I realized, that it is no longer possible to change the weather model when being in "Wind"-mode.
When switching to "Wind"-mode, the list of weather models at the lower border of the screen turns grey, I can not change the model. When I want to switch to a different model, I first have to go into the "Basic"-mode, there I can select a different model and then have to switch back to "Wind"-mode. This is extremely inefficient.
This definitely was different in the past, when I was able to simply switch models from within wind-mode.
Is this a bug or (I hope not) intentional?

@Ftjwinfs
Selecting the weather model in the Wind-mode does not seem possible in the new v46 browser version.
It is still possible in the v45 mobile app. It allows the model to be in first row and the weather map to be that forecast by the model.
I don’t know if it is a bug in the new browser version.

@idefix37 What you describe from the mobile app is exactly how the browser version used to be.
It would be great to hear from Windy, is the behavior of v46 in the browser is intentional or a bug.
-
@Suty , what do you think about this?
-
@Ftjwinfs I already forwarded it to colleagues for further discussion. I will let you know as soon as I know any update about this.
-
@Ftjwinfs For now, we decided to keep that this way, since there are some further planned changes in upcoming updates.
-
@Suty does this mean, you/windy agree that this is a bug, but that it will take some time until it will be fixed?
-
@Ftjwinfs We limited this functionality for now, but we will consider getting that feature back in an upcoming update.
-
@Suty It is a really awkward "feature", I do not have the slightest idea, why one would prevent users from switching the wind model...
-
@Suty This is still an issue in v46.1, that was made available today
-
@Suty please replace feature. It was very convenient.
-
@cybrbaer Yes, it will be fixed in the next update this summer.
-
@Suty I just saw the latest update of the browser version.
Please, who is guiding your UX department? An intern?
-
Why an alarming red color for the footer of the window? It captures the focus of the eye, while I want to ficus on the actual data. Before it was a subtle grey. Significantly better.
-
"Pollen&AirQ" as second item after "Basic" even before "Wave&Tide" and "Wind", are you serious?
-
And most important: When will you again allow users to switch the model when being in wind-mode? It still is not possible, see screenshot.

@Suty To add some context to my rather harsh words: I'm simply strongly disappointed with the developments that I see for Windy.
I'm almost tempted to say, you should revert to the state that you had about two years ago. Back then the user experience was much better. Examples: I was able to tap on the map to change location (app version), I was able to change weather model when being in wind mode, etc...
You continue to loose functionality in favor of some (to me) completely irrelevant features. At the same time I see, that the bugs and seriously questionable "features", that were reported by users some weeks ago simply do not get fixed.
I get the feeling, that the feedback of your users is not of much concern to the Wind team.

@Ftjwinfs I will forward your message to colleagues to consider any upcoming plans in this field.
