Wind-barbs obviously and dramatically wrong
-
@Ftjwinfs 46.1 should be out tomorrow, according to our plans now.
-
@Suty That sounds very good, thank you for the quick response!
-
@Ftjwinfs sorry for directing my anger at the wrong person.
This forum is quite confusing at times.
The fix that they released a few hours ago appears to have fixed the bug with the uncorrelated wind arrows and the wind direction table!
-
@stevecrye No worries!
I also just checked the version 46.1, the tabulated data and the wind barbs seem to be consistent now. Also the data in the table does not change anymore when I change the model.
That looks ok.

The latest update to the Android app does not fix the problem. The arrows clustered around the forecast location bear no relationship to the wind direction arrows in the table. Also, the colors of the wind direction arrows clustered around the forecast location, and the wind speeds on those arrows are completely unrelated to anything in the table.
We are frankly tired of waiting for a fix to this problem. I'm looking at your competitors such as windy.app.
Not a happy customer.

@Suty where to get 46.1? Both android store and apple store have 46.0 as the latest version for me (in Sweden)
-
@hpobloth
It is probably late -
@stevecrye Fix is included in version 46.1, but you checked the app, where the update is not available yet. It will be released most probably this week. If you are interested in the new update, please check the browser version of Windy, where the latest update is already out.
Thank you for the patience.

On the web, the arrows "bottom to top" (at least) are generaly totally wrong !
It is easy to reproduce the problem, just look at the map, imagine the wind on your sailing boat when you have your direction.
And the name "bottom to top", is not very good.
I would have preferred "relative to the boat".
Perhaps it will help the developper to find the solution ... -

You are talking about the Route planner ! It is not the topic of this thread.
Apparently you have not understood what “bottom to top” or “left to right” means in the Route planner setting.Imagine your boat is sailing from left to right on your screen. The TRUE WIND shown on the route planner diagram is as it appears at sea relative to the boat's heading.
So, it's not the relative wind resulting from the true wind and the boat's speeds i.e. the vector sum of the wind speed and the boat speed. It is the true wind (and waves) direction as it appears relative to the course of the boat from left to right of screen.
See more details here and here.
It is an alternative to North up because it shows when your route is heading into the wind or too close to the wind direction, being useful to forecast the point of sail (close reach, beam reach, broad reach…) along the route.
See how to use the Route planner
