Tide Times
-
Hey has anyone else got issues with the tide times being incorrect with a Z in the time? i think its 12hours out, showing 19:00 at 7am
-
@Bendz Hello, could you please specify it? I checked tide forecast with UTC times turned on and everything seems okay to me.
-
@Suty for Auckland Pacific I am getting the z and 12 hours out on tide times showing on both desktop and app. Is there a way I an share a screenshot

-
@idefix37 Thanks, here is what I'm getting and its also 12 hours out.

@Bendz
Current local time in Auckland is UTC + 12h
So as the tide time is now displayed only in UTC (Z), the tide time in Windy is displayed as local time - 12h. -
@idefix37 oh I see, so there is no way for it to show local time anymore?
-
@Bendz
Unfortunately not at the moment.
I hope Windy will fix this problem by allowing tides to be displayed in local time again.
In the past, tide charts were in UTC, all sailors knew this, and we were familiar with the local time corrections. But today, not all Windy users are marine experts. -
@Bendz if you turn on UTC time in the settings it will actually show local times for tide, however your weather time will now be in UTC. Windy is just flipping these around on accident, and it should be an easy fix.

@chuntley
You are right. Setting “Display all times in UTC” in fact displays tide time in local time !
Not very logical -

@idefix37 It should be swapped, correct? I will check that and forward the bug to colleagues.
-
@Suty
Correct, both in the mobile app and in the browser version. -
@Bendz I am having the same problem. It was working correctly (showing local time for high and low tides). Very user-unfriendly.
Windy can you please get this put back the way it was?

Is there any update to this? I'm thinking about going with another app when my membership is up for this exact reason. local tide times are a pretty important reason why i downloaded the app in the first place. I'm a surfer paddle boarder and spear fisherman.
-
Not yet.
But in the meantime you can get the correct tide times by selecting "Display all times in UTC" in Settings as shown in my screenshots above.
You’ll just need to modify the setting when the change is applied in the app. -
