Unable to enable "Live alert": No device token available for notifications.

When I enable "Live alert", It throw a error: "StormTracker Error: No device token available for notifications."
-
Hi @tomacat, if you’re seeing the message “No device token available,” the following suggestions might help:
- Notifications may not be enabled in your system settings (check your phone settings → Notifications → Windy app).
- The app might not have the necessary permissions or didn’t manage to obtain a token (restarting the Windy app or your phone might help).
- There may have been a connection issue when trying to register your device for notifications.
If these don't help, please feel free to reach out again. Thanks, Jari

@Jari-Sochorová I still see the error message. I promise the location and notification permission is granted. Is it use Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging? (I can't connect to the Google Cloud, because I am in China.)
-
@tomacat Yes, Windy uses Google libraries (including Firebase Cloud Messaging) for sending notifications. That’s likely the reason you’re still seeing the error message. We're sorry for the inconvenience, but due to these limitations, push notifications may not work properly in your region.
Let us know if we can help in any other way. Warm regards, Jari -
Bei mir half die Neuinstallation der App. Und das mit Standort Deutschland. Vorher die selbe Fehlermeldung.
-
@Jari-Sochorová I am getting the same error and have everything turned on
-
I get the same error. All permissions granted, and a phone restart did not solve the problem. I’m in Denmark so I don’t think I have any Google service access issues (in fact I use a LOT of Google services and have never had a problem with that).
-
Also have this issue.

@Kurisu112 @tomacat @george88gta @Wettergucker @ZiggyMax Hi, please, can you specify your device and OS? Thank you for reporting the issue. Jari

After reinstall the app, I can received the storm alert now (Although I don't see any storm on the radar). My device is Oneplus 8T, OS is Android 14. @Jari-Sochorová
-
@tomacat Good that the reinstall worked. Now we need the storm alert to function properly for you. Are there any lightning strikes nearby? The storm alert is triggered by lightning.
-
@Jari-Sochorová Strangely, I don't see any lightning nearby Hangzhou where I live. So I still watch to see if the next Live Alert works properly.
-
@Jari-Sochorová This worked on my iphone but not my GS24. I still get the error.
-
Same problem here ("StormTracker Error : No device token available for notifications") on Samsung Galaxy A34 (One UI 6.1 / Android 14). I'm located in France.
-
@Jari-Sochorová I am experiencing the same issue and have tried all of the solutions you mentioned here. After restarting the phone and re-installing the app, error still prevails. Please device a solution for this as it appears as a bug in the App.
-
Hi @Nadia-Asad-Siddiqui @xaviercm63 @Jillmiketx @george88gta @ZiggyMax @Kurisu112, an app update with a fix will be released next week. If reinstalling the app didn’t help, please hang in there until then. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience. Warm regards, Jari

Good evening, does this new service only work with geolocation or can we save other locations? Thank you.
-
@stratosphere Hello, yes it is geolocated service. You can read our article about alerts in Windy.com app. Have a nice day, Niki
